Refuse the generic “Arizona not current” label
Capture the exact screen, notice, spreadsheet row, vendor report, or database result that generated the problem. Record the agency name, record type, legal name, identifier, status text, source URL, date checked, and the activity the organization wants to conduct. Without those fields, “delinquent” is only a conclusion and can send the organization toward the wrong filing system.
Arizona’s Secretary of State says the general charity-registration filing was repealed in 2013 and no other state agency assumed it. An old charity number, historic public filing, or third-party calendar can therefore point to a retired system. Do not create a cure package or late-fee payment for that repealed record.
Check the veterans solicitation record when it is relevant
If the campaign solicits money or support in the name of an American veterans organization, compare the current activity with A.R.S. section 13-3722 and the Secretary of State filing. Search the Veterans’ Charities List using the legal name and reasonable variants, then reconcile the listing to the organization’s accepted form, tax attachment, address, website, executive, and primary contact.
The current form supports an initial registration or an amendment. If no filing exists and the activity is covered, prepare the signed, dated, notarized form and accepted prior-year tax document. If a listing exists but details changed, use the amendment path. Keep state correspondence and do not represent the organization as restored until the correct record is processed and reconciled.
Separate QCO eligibility and tax-credit list issues
A charity missing from an Arizona Department of Revenue QCO or QFCO list has a tax-credit-program issue, not proof of a solicitation-registration lapse. Check the approved year, assigned code, application or recertification correspondence, primary contact, eligible services and populations, and budget evidence. ADOR says certification concerns the Arizona tax credit only.
If certification was never sought, expired, or requires recertification, follow the current ADOR route and remove unsupported donor credit claims while the matter is resolved. Do not file a veterans statement unless the separate veterans solicitation facts support it. One organization can have clean or problematic records in different systems at the same time.
Open separate entity and federal workstreams
Use the Arizona Corporation Commission entity search for domestic or foreign nonprofit status and the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search or organization correspondence for federal status. A corporation annual-report, statutory-agent, revocation, or dissolution issue belongs to the entity workstream. A revoked or missing federal exemption belongs to the IRS workstream.
Neither record recreates Arizona’s repealed general charity filing. Conversely, a clean veterans or QCO record does not fix an entity or IRS problem. Assign deadlines, source documents, responsible owners, and completion evidence to each system so one successful filing is not used to close unrelated defects.
Define recovery by evidence, not submission activity
For a veterans record, keep the accepted form or amendment, delivery and processing correspondence, and a dated public-list check. For QCO status, keep the approval certificate, code, applicable-year list, and recertification response. For an entity or IRS matter, keep that agency’s final evidence. A draft, fee receipt, delivery confirmation, or help-desk ticket is not the same as acceptance.
Write a short closure memo that names the original signal, the correct record, the action taken, the agency evidence, the public status checked, any campaign restrictions maintained during the cure, and the next monitoring trigger. This turns an ambiguous “not current” warning into a defensible record-specific conclusion.

Arizona recovery FAQ
Can an ordinary charity reinstate a general Arizona solicitation registration?
No current general record exists to reinstate; the Secretary of State says that filing was repealed in 2013.
What should an Arizona charity status review capture first?
Capture the agency, record type, identifier, exact status text, source, date, and intended activity.
How is a veterans charity record corrected?
Use the current signed and notarized initial or amendment form with the specified tax document, then reconcile the processed filing to the public list.
Does absence from the QCO list mean solicitation registration is delinquent?
No. QCO listing is a separate Arizona tax-credit-program record.
Does a clean corporation record prove fundraising compliance?
No. Entity authority, veterans solicitation filing, QCO status, IRS status, and other-state registrations are separate.
What proves an Arizona recovery is complete?
Use the final evidence for the actual agency record and document the public-status reconciliation and next monitoring trigger.
